Greetings to all the activists, optimists, and dreamers! My name is Barry Goldenberg, and I am a 1st year student at Teachers College, pursuing a Master of Arts in History and Education. When I was asked to write a guest post telling my “story” on the TC Admissions blog, I was excited, yet humbled at the same time—what would I write about? What would I say? But as I started reflecting on my first semester in the Big Apple and why I ultimately chose to attend Teachers College, over a range of other programs, I remembered that part of the reason I chose TC in the first place was because it is an institution that uniquely situates itself as a holding ground for many people’s “stories”—literally thousands of “stories” steeped in education, yes, but more importantly soaked in passion, activism, social justice and civility. It has been an honor to link my “story” with tons of students and faculty I have met at TC throughout the past semester who have the same ambition and heart to “do good things.” I only hope that the readers out there have the opportunity to do the same!
